Arte Fiera Bologna 2019

01 february – 04 february 2019

The Antonio Verolino Gallery offers a stand focused exclusively on textile works.

There are many artists of the past and present who have been interested and continue to be interested in tapestries; they collected them, woven them themselves or entrusted their creation to skilled weavers and manufacturers, making their creativity available.

The twentieth century was a fundamental century for the world of textiles; since the first decades, artists and movements throughout Europe have been rediscovering the ancient techniques of weaving, to create works with a modern language.

Thanks to their strong functional and decorative value, the tapestry, in particular, has fascinated artists, eager to experiment in a new field. Textile art and painting are increasingly intertwined. Not a mere mechanical reproduction, the textile work shows itself as a critical interpretation of painting, an original reworking of an image through its own language.

Artists present at the fair:

Victor Vasarely, Max Ernst, Enzo Cucchi, David Tremlett, Bertozzi & Casoni
