Jacopo Valentini

Jacopo Valentini (1990) lives between Modena and Milan.
He approached photography from a very young age and made personal use of it. During the last phase of his university studies he began to question his photographic research. He has made, and continues to make, photography an intense means of design development.
He was born in Modena, the city in which he obtained his high school diploma. In 2011 he enrolled at the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio (CH), during these years of studies he had the opportunity to carry out an internship at the Chilean art and architecture workshop Pezo Von Ellrichshausen (CL). In June 2015 he was selected to participate in the Foto Factory Modena project in collaboration with SkyArteHD and Fondazione Modena Arti Visive. In February 2016 he began attending the Master in Photography course at the IUAV in Venice under the supervision of Angela Vettese and Stefano Graziani. In 2017 he obtained both degrees from the two universities: IUAV of Venice (Honours) and the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio. In the same year he won the 101st Young Artists Collective at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation. In 2019 he was selected for Young Italian Photography #07, within the official European Photography circuit in Reggio Emilia, and won the Nocivelli Award. In 2020 he was a finalist for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award Newcomer and winner of the Refocus tender, organized by MiC in collaboration with the Triennale di Milano and MUfoco. Also in the same year he was selected for the Cantica21 project organized by the MiC and the MAECI with the research Concerning Dante – Autonomus Cell, published by Humboldt Books. In 2021 he exhibits at Parma, Capital of Italian Culture.
Jacopo Valentini has exhibited in institutions and private spaces both in Italy and abroad, including: Cloisters of San Domenico, La Triennale di Milano, L.Pecci Center for Contemporary Art, Museo Fattori, Royal Institute British of Architecture, Fondazione Fabbri, Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Ragghianti Foundation, La Volonté 93, Una Vetrina, Linea di Confine, Modena Philosophy Festival, Cavour Civic Gallery of Padua, Parma Governor’s Palace, Modena Civic Gallery, Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa , Italian Cultural Institute-Moscow.

His works are present in national and non-national collections, both public and private, including: Emilia Romagna Region – IBC Emilia Romagna, Galleria Civica di Modena – FMAV, Palazzo Rasponi II in Ravenna, Fondazione Ragghianti di Lucca, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa di Venice, MUfoco and Farnesina Collection (under acquisition).

He held the role of assistant for the Italian artist Stefano Graziani, with whom he still collaborates. He is currently working on a personal research project on territorial displacement within the common imagination.
