Riguardo a ciò che non si vede / About what you can’t see

The Antonio Verolino Gallery presents “Concerning what cannot be seen”, an exhibition that brings together works by three artists: Fabio Sandri, Davide Tranchina and Paolo Ventura.
The exhibition revolves around the idea of photography, which, however, is always circumvented and evaded in the research of the selected authors. The works on display, in fact, although making use of photosensitive supports, free themselves from the traditional idea of drawing from reality to deepen a reflection on language and representation. If Paolo Ventura uses photography to capture the stories set within the theatrical scenes he recreated in the studio, or as a support on which to intervene with painting, Fabio Sandri completely renounces the use of the camera. The images we see are born from the interaction between the author’s gestures and a light source which, passed over the photosensitive paper, reveals the underlying drawing, outlined in chalk on a table. Davide Tranchina’s practice, however, remains in balance between the use of classic photography and that of off-camera techniques. Even when the images, however, were created with the most traditional method, the resulting representation remains suspended in a continuous game between reality and fiction.
